Course Description
This course is designed to provide seafarers with the knowledge and practical skills required to perform duties as a rating forming part of a navigational watch on board a seagoing ship, in accordance with the requirements of the STCW Convention.
The training covers fundamental navigation watchkeeping principles, including lookout duties, steering the ship, use of navigational equipment, basic bridge procedures, communication, and adherence to the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGs). Emphasis is placed on safe watchkeeping practices, situational awareness, teamwork, and compliance with safety and pollution prevention procedures.
Upon successful completion, participants will be competent to assist deck officers in navigational watchkeeping duties, contribute to the safe navigation of the vessel, and perform assigned tasks on the bridge in accordance with international maritime standards.
