Course Description
This course is designed to provide engineering officers and relevant technical personnel with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate and maintain high voltage electrical installations on board ships, at the operational level, in accordance with the requirements of the STCW Convention.
The training covers the fundamental principles of high voltage systems, including power generation, distribution, protection devices, switching operations, insulation, and fault detection. Emphasis is placed on safe working practices, risk assessment, lockout and tagging procedures, and emergency response related to high voltage operations.
Upon successful completion, participants will be competent to carry out operational duties involving high voltage installations under established procedures, ensure the safety of personnel and equipment, and support the reliable operation of shipboard electrical power systems.
