Course Description

This course is designed to train seafarers to perform the duties and responsibilities of an Able Seafarer in the deck department of a seagoing ship, in accordance with the requirements of the STCW Convention. It is intended for personnel who already have basic seafaring experience and seek qualification at the operational level.

The training covers advanced seamanship skills, including cargo handling and stowage, watchkeeping duties, maintenance and repair of the ship’s hull and deck equipment, mooring and anchoring operations, and the use of lifesaving and firefighting appliances. The course also emphasizes safety procedures, pollution prevention, teamwork, and effective communication on board.

Upon successful completion, participants will be competent to carry out deck operations safely and efficiently, support deck officers during navigational and cargo-related activities, and contribute to the overall safety and operation of the vessel.
